The method of microreproduction with the help of clones lets receive the necessary quantity of copies of those plants seminal reproduction of which has some difficulties for different reasons. Another direction of work is based on using isolated cells and tissue for the reduction of plants of full value – rare plants of Altay. The collections of following plants are made in vitro in the department: 9 species of potato, 3 sorts of ever bearing wild strawberries; 1 sort of clematis, Rhododendron ledebourii, 20 forms of pear, 5 forms of cherry, Brachantemum baranovii, B. krylovii and Dendranthema sinuatum.
